The first and only release from relatively unknown British singer/songwriter William N. Dalton, 'Betsy' is a song about unrequited love. On the B-side of this single (released in an run of only 17 pressings), 'What Is Love?' is a more conceptual and witty take, using sections of free-form spoken word to liken everyday objects to the nature of love. N. Dalton only performed these songs live a handful of times - and allegedly in his final performance he had already forgotten the words to 'Betsy'. Thus, these are the best surviving recordings.
